The Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) in Katsina have effectively re-arrested two inmates who had escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in October. The escapees, Ibrahim Muhammad-Lawal (also known as Abba Kala) and Musa Isah, were awaiting trial for alleged robbery.

The spokesperson for the Katsina Command, ASC Najib Idris, confirmed the successful recapture of the fugitives. Muhammad-Lawal was apprehended shortly after their escape, while Isah was captured in Kaduna on a subsequent date.

Efforts to recapture the remaining escapee were initiated immediately, with a search party collaborated with sister security agencies. The NCoS deployed an e-tracking mechanism alongside overt and covert intelligence gathering, leading to the recapture of Musa Isah in Kaduna metropolis on December 19.

The Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, expressed appreciation for the search team’s efforts in re-arresting the fugitives. He further affirmed the commitment to intensify efforts in securing all custodial centres across the country.

The successful re-apprehension of the escaped inmates serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Correctional Services in ensuring public safety and the effective administration of justice.
