Supreme Court Validates Peter Mbah’s Governorship in Enugu

In a significant legal ruling, the Supreme Court has upheld the election of Peter Mbah from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful governor of Enugu State. This decision comes after the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, had previously affirmed Mbah’s election in a unanimous verdict, dismissing all three issues raised against him by the Labour Party’s Edeoga Jonathan.

During the judgement delivered by the apex court, presided over by Justice Mohammed Garba, it was emphasized that the allegations against Mr. Mbah’s possession of the National Youth Service Corp certificate were unsubstantiated and amounted to mere speculation. This pivotal ruling solidifies Mbah’s position as the legitimate governor of Enugu, based on the resolution of all the issues raised in the appeal against him.

This judicial affirmation serves as a testament to the democratic process and reinforces the mandate entrusted to Peter Mbah by the people of Enugu. It also sets a precedent for electoral integrity and the adherence to legal qualifications for public office holders across Nigeria. The resounding decision by the Supreme Court underscores the importance of upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the democratic rights of elected officials and their constituents.
