The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has taken decisive action to alleviate the blackout that has affected Yobe and Borno states following the vandalism of power transmission towers. In response to this dire situation, TCN has initiated the construction of two 330KVA power towers in Yobe. This development aims to reinstate electricity supply to the affected areas, providing relief to the residents who have been enduring the blackout.
The Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Baba Wali, conveyed this significant step in a statement issued in Damaturu, emphasizing the pivotal role that these restoration efforts play in addressing the adverse impact caused by the vandalism. The crucial infrastructure was vandalised by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the Kasesa area of Damaturu, underscoring the disruptive consequences of such acts of sabotage.
The severity of the situation prompted Governor Mai Mala Buni to direct the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and the state’s electrification agency to promptly explore alternative means of supplying electricity to Damaturu. Governor Buni also instructed the Rural Electrification Board (REB) and YEDC to expedite the restoration of the 33KV line from Potiskum to Damaturu without delay.
In light of these developments, it is imperative for the public to remain patient as the government diligently endeavors to tackle this pressing challenge. TCN’s commitment to restoring power in the region signifies a beacon of hope for the residents of Yobe and Borno who have endured the hardships imposed by the blackout.
This exemplary display of resilience and swift action by TCN and the Yobe State Government serves as a testament to the unwavering determination to overcome adversity and bolster the essential services crucial for the well-being of the populace.
