In a recent statement, Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), issued a stern warning against the exploitation of his office for fraudulent activities. The SGF emphasized the prevalence of fake appointments being falsely attributed to his office and urged the public to remain vigilant.
The statement, conveyed by Segun Imohiosen, Head of Information at the Office of the SGF in Abuja, highlighted the proliferation of deceptive communications via social media, emails, and text messages. These communications falsely entice individuals to submit their Curriculum Vitae for a fee, purportedly to a non-existent desk within the SGF’s office. The SGF noted that the perpetrators have been leveraging the name of the former Director of Information, Willie Bassey, and utilizing fraudulent contact details such as Aliyu Isah’s phone numbers (+234 9168487156, +234 8035557865) and email address (draliyu95@gmail.com) to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
Emphasizing the gravity of the situation, Sen. George Akume underscored the need for caution, urging the public to disregard such misleading information. He encouraged individuals to utilize the official communication channels of the Office of the SGF for any inquiries or clarifications, directing them to visit www.osgf.gov.ng or contact info@osgf.gov.ng.
Furthermore, the SGF cautioned those involved in perpetuating these fraudulent schemes to immediately cease their activities or face legal consequences. This warning comes in the wake of a prior notice issued earlier in the month, signaling the SGF’s unwavering commitment to combating such illicit practices.
The Office of the SGF, through the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reiterates its resolute stance against these deceptive maneuvers and reaffirms its dedication to safeguarding the public from exploitation.
