The Ogun State Police Command has clarified that Nigerian actor and movie director, Azeez Ololade Ijaduade, was hit by an ammunition shell, not a bullet, in the neck.

The news of the alleged shooting surfaced on social media when the victim’s colleague, Abiodun Adebanjo, posted the incident on Instagram, seeking help for Azeez Ijaduade, who was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel at Iperu. The post sparked intense criticism of the police for alleged unprofessionalism.

In response, the state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that a mobile policeman attached to a Chinese expatriate fired a shot into the air at the Bramaj Company end-of-year party in a hotel. Regrettably, the ammunition shell hit Azeez Ijaduade, an actor, in the neck. The police emphasized that he is in stable condition after being rushed to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital from Ilishan.

Furthermore, the police reported that the officer responsible for the incident has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.

The situation of Azeez Ijaduade remains unconfirmed, but the police assured the public of his stable condition. The incident has raised concerns about police conduct and public safety, prompting calls for accountability and proper firearms handling protocols.
