In a scathing critique, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu, did not mince words when he branded Godwin Emefiele as the worst governor in the apex bank’s history. Moghalu’s accusations range from the failure to maintain Naira stability to engaging in illegal lending practices, running an unauthorized presidential campaign, and mishandling the Naira redesign policy.
Moghalu took to social media to express his dismay, highlighting Emefiele’s unpreparedness for the role of CBN governor. He did not hold back, asserting, “He is, without debate, the worst and most damaging Central Bank Governor in Nigeria’s history- incompetent and ill-prepared for the role, and from all available information from his actions, doubtlessly severely challenged with integrity.”
The spotlight on Emefiele intensified following an investigative report on the CBN, which implicated him in the misappropriation of funds. As the uproar grows, the future of the embattled governor remains uncertain, while questions about the integrity of Nigeria’s central banking system loom large.
