The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) is urging Nigerians to view Christmas as more than just a period of festivities. Instead, they are calling for a moment of sober reflection to redirect thoughts and actions towards nation-building.
In a Christmas message to journalists in Enugu, Mr. Chekwube Ani, the Chairman of YOWICAN in Enugu State, emphasized the need for individuals to use this season to evaluate themselves and society. He stressed the importance of appreciating and promoting the salvation work of God as symbolized by the birth of Jesus Christ.
“Christmas should be a time for reconciliation and salvation,” said Ani. He reminded people of the central message of Christmas – love, reconciliation, and salvation for all. Referencing John 3:16, he urged everyone to take the opportunity to reconcile with their maker and to demonstrate love for one another, mirroring the love shown by God.
Ani also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Gov. Peter Mbah in areas such as security, health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism in Enugu State.
As the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ this Christmas, the call for reflection and unity from the YOWICAN serves as a timely reminder of the true essence of the festive season.
