The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna State has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse. In a recent operation, the agency seized a staggering 1,458.709 kilograms of illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic drugs.
Furthermore, the NDLEA’s relentless efforts led to the apprehension of 103 suspects involved in drug trafficking, dealing, and usage. This development underscores the agency’s commitment to tackling the scourge of drug abuse within the state.
Shuaibu Omale, the Press Officer of the NDLEA, emphasized that beyond enforcement actions, the agency has prioritized community engagement and awareness. Through various sensitization programs held across the state, the NDLEA aims to educate the public about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and illicit drug trade.
Omale also revealed that as part of their crackdown on illicit drug activities, the command dismantled 26 drug joints. Additionally, the agency achieved notable success in the legal arena, securing six convictions and arraigning 24 suspects during the month of December 2023.
