The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a bold step by dissolving the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Ignatius Nlem in Imo State, Nigeria. The party accused the former committee of engaging in activities that were against the party’s interests during the recently conducted off-cycle Governorship Election on November 11, 2023.
In a statement released by the National Vice Chairman South East – Chilos Godsent in Owerri, the ADC unveiled the newly constituted State Working Committee. The party urged the new committee to revitalize the party in the state and prepare for a successful outing in the upcoming 2027 General Elections.
The newly appointed members of the State Working Committee are Chief Dr Amushie Emmanuel as State Chairman, Hon Amadi Chidi as State Deputy Chairman, Mr Okoro Charles as State Secretary, Mrs. Ijeoma Egocha as State Treasurer, Hon Justice Ugochukwu as State Financial Secretary, Mr. Oparaugo Emmanuel as State Publicity Secretary, Deacon Jacob Onuigbo as State Organizing Secretary, and Mrs Loveth Emedo as State Auditor.
Additional members include Iroh Lazarus Iheanacho as State Legal Adviser, Lolo Ngozi Nwosu as State Women Leader, Comrade Edih Chidiebere as State Youth Leader, Chief Charles Nwosu as State Vice Chairman Okigwe Zone, Chief Onukaogu Paschal as State Vice Chairman Owerri Zone, and Mazi Nnamdi Aguguo as State Vice Chairman Orlu Zone.
Chief Dr Amushie Emmanuel, the new State Chairman of ADC in Imo State, expressed unwavering commitment to lead his team towards achieving electoral victory for ADC in the upcoming elections. He emphasized the party’s determination to utilize all available political and legal means to ensure that the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) conducts the Local Government Council Elections in the State before the end of June 2024.
Furthermore, he asserted that as the primary opposition party in Imo State, ADC will play a pivotal role in advocating for participatory democracy and good governance.
The reconstitution of the leadership within the Imo State chapter of the ADC demonstrates the party’s readiness to realign and strengthen its position, marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
