The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, have extended warm congratulations to Mr. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as he celebrates his 70th birthday on Wednesday, December 27.

Describing Akume’s seven decades of life as impactful, Speaker Abbas, in a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, highlighted Akume’s dedicated leadership and service to Nigeria. He emphasized Akume’s significant contributions in both the executive and legislative arms of government, at both state and federal levels. Abbas also praised Akume’s commitment to nurturing other politicians, portraying him as an astute politician and a democrat.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu also lauded Akume’s political prowess, describing him as a consummate politician, patriot, and democrat dedicated to the growth and development of Benue State and Nigeria at large. He recalled Akume’s tenure as a Senator in the National Assembly, noting his sponsorship of key bills for national development and his facilitation of people-centered projects in his constituency. Kalu also highlighted Akume’s commendable performance as the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
