The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has spoken out against the recent wave of violence that has struck communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State just before Christmas. Reports indicate that approximately 115 individuals have tragically lost their lives in the past 72 hours at the hands of armed assailants.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas unequivocally denounced these attacks as barbaric and heinous. He expressed deep concern over the recurring acts of violence perpetrated by gunmen, bandits, and other criminals, who callously take the lives of innocent Nigerians.

Abbas fervently urged the security and intelligence agencies to take decisive measures to prevent further loss of life and property in Plateau and other affected areas of the country. Additionally, he called for the swift apprehension and prosecution of those responsible for these reprehensible acts, emphasizing that the alarming trend of relentless attacks on lives and property across Nigeria must be halted without delay.

“Nigeria has endured far too many tragic losses due to these relentless attacks, and this pattern must cease immediately,” Speaker Abbas declared.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Plateau State, Abbas offered prayers for the souls of the departed and solace for their bereaved families.
