Governor Seyi Makinde Mourns the Painful Loss of Rotimi Akeredolu

In a somber statement issued from Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rotimi Akeredolu, his Ondo State counterpart. Makinde described Akeredolu’s demise as a grievous loss not only to Yorubaland but to Nigeria as a whole.

Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Special Adviser on Media, conveyed Governor Makinde’s heartfelt condolences to Akeredolu’s family, particularly his wife, Betty, as well as to the government and people of Ondo State.

Makinde eulogized Akeredolu as a resolute and valiant leader who, until his passing, served as the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum. He emphasized Akeredolu’s steadfast dedication to fostering peace, prosperity, and progress within the south-western states.

“I received with great sorrow the news of the passing of my compatriot, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the governor of Ondo State and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum,” stated Governor Makinde.

He further extended his sympathies, acknowledging Akeredolu’s unwavering commitment to the collective cause of the South-West Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, which stands as a testament to their shared dedication to the region’s advancement.

Makinde emphasized Akeredolu’s fervent and unyielding advocacy for matters concerning the regional integration and progress of the south-west, asserting that his legacy will endure as a guiding light for present and future leaders. In closing, Makinde mournfully acknowledged, “he will be sorely missed.”

This loss echoes beyond the boundaries of Ondo State, resonating profoundly throughout the entire Yorubaland and the nation of Nigeria.
