Shooting Stars’ Resilience Shines Despite Defeat: Ogunbote

Gbenga Ogunbote, the head coach of Shooting Stars, expressed admiration for his team’s unwavering performance despite their 2-0 loss to Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Ogunbote acknowledged the commendable effort put forth by the Oluyole Warriors, who fought valiantly but succumbed to goals from Kalu Nweke and Chidozie Okorie.

In a post-match statement, Ogunbote emphasized that the absence of goals should not overshadow the team’s overall display. “They [Shooting Stars players] didn’t play too badly except for the fact that we had no goals to show for it. Nobody will say we were humiliated except for the goals,” Ogunbote remarked. He underlined the importance of recognizing the positives from the match, asserting, “Sometimes goals do not actually determine the strength of play. Be it as it may, we take the positives from the match.”

Despite being winless in their last six games, Shooting Stars, currently positioned 13th on the table, remain determined to turn their fortunes around. Their next league game will see them host Bayelsa United as they strive to reclaim victory and ascend in the rankings.
