Tinubu Urged to Visit Victims of Plateau Attacks, PDP Demands Action

The call for urgent action has intensified as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) urges President Bola Tinubu to personally visit the scene of the Christmas Eve massacre in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi communities of Plateau State.

Reports indicate that over 150 individuals fell victim to the gunmen’s onslaught, prompting Tinubu to condemn the attacks and initiate a manhunt for the perpetrators. Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, has already visited the site to reassure residents of the administration’s commitment to delivering justice to the affected communities.

In response, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, raised questions regarding the failure of intelligence leading up to the coordinated killings. The party also expressed concerns over the government’s handling of the situation, referencing statements from former military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, about the potential complicity of government officials in such unrestrained violence.

The PDP demands that President Tinubu not only allay fears and concerns but also take immediate and decisive action by visiting the affected communities. The party asserts that such a visit would demonstrate leadership, empathy, and a strong connection with the citizens, a role they believe the President has so far failed to fulfill. The statement further emphasized the need for Tinubu to provide reassurance and support to the affected families while reaffirming his government’s commitment to the affected communities in Plateau State.

As the nation awaits President Tinubu’s response, the urgency for tangible steps to address the crisis and bring the perpetrators to justice continues to mount.
