Kano Governor’s Heroic Efforts Reunite Stolen Children with Parents

In a heartwarming turn of events, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State orchestrated the reunion of seven abducted children with their families from Bauchi State. This remarkable feat came to fruition after the Kano State Police dismantled an inter-state child abduction and trafficking syndicate, culminating in the arrest of nine suspects across seven different states.

The Kano State Police Command’s diligent and protracted investigation led to the exposure of a syndicate operating for over a decade, specializing in inter-state trafficking, abduction, and the nefarious buying and selling of minors. The syndicate’s widespread influence extended to Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra, and Imo states.

Expressing deep appreciation for the commendable efforts of the Kano State Police Command, Governor Yusuf was visibly moved to tears of joy. However, his elation was tempered by the distressing discovery that seven children abducted from Bauchi State had been trafficked and sold in Anambra and Lagos States.

In light of this distressing revelation, Governor Yusuf passionately urged parents to remain vigilant and deeply attentive to the well-being of their children, emphasizing that it is a fundamental responsibility. Furthermore, he called on his counterpart in Bauchi State to take decisive legal action against the arrested suspects.

Malam Abdulmutallif Sa’ad, representing the parents of the recovered children, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Yusuf and the Kano State Police Command for their unwavering resolve in reuniting the children with their families. He also pledged that parents would exercise heightened vigilance in safeguarding their children.

The nine suspects apprehended by the Kano State Police Command were apprehended alongside the children they had stolen from Bauchi State. This interception took place at Mariri motor park in Kano while en route to Lagos and Anambra States.

Speaking on behalf of the Bauchi State government, Mrs. Sha’awanatu Yusuf, the Director of Public Prosecution at the state Ministry of Justice, underscored the unity between Kano and Bauchi States for the greater good. She assured that the Bauchi State government would take the necessary legal steps to ensure that the suspects faced the full consequences of the law.

In a demonstration of his commitment to the cause, Governor Yusuf graciously donated N500,000 to each of the seven recovered children, offering a glimmer of hope and support as they embark on the path to recovery and normalcy.
