The Lagos State Police have apprehended two women and a man in connection with multiple cases of cyberbullying, cyber stalking, abduction, threats to life, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The arrests came after the police received numerous petitions regarding these offenses.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, confirmed the arrests. He stated that preliminary investigations have substantiated the allegations against the suspects. Moreover, the police have expressed their commitment to conduct further investigations to enable possible prosecution.
In a bid to ensure thorough investigation, the police secured a remand order for the suspects until January 10, 2024, by approaching a court of competent jurisdiction. This move underscores the seriousness with which the police are treating these allegations.
SP Hundeyin emphasized the police force’s dedication to upholding the nation’s laws, with a particular focus on addressing cyber stalking and cyberbullying, which have the potential to incite violence if left unchecked. He assured the public that updates on the investigation’s progress will be communicated as further developments unfold.
This recent development serves as a stark reminder of the growing prevalence of cyber-related offenses and the resolve of law enforcement agencies to tackle them head-on. As the investigation progresses, the public eagerly anticipates the outcomes and the enforcement of justice.
