José Peseiro Determined to Lead Nigeria to Fourth AFCON Title

As the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations approaches, José Peseiro, the coach of Nigeria’s national football team, underlines his unwavering commitment to clinching the championship. With a rich history of three AFCON victories, the Super Eagles are poised to vie for a fourth title in Cote d’Ivoire this year.

Drawn into Group A, Nigeria will lock horns with the hosts, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea. Despite their last continental triumph dating back to 2013, Peseiro exudes confidence in his team’s ability to reign supreme once again.

In an interview with KORAPLUS, Peseiro expressed his enthusiasm for the Nigerian national team, emphasizing his resolute determination to secure an AFCON victory. “My experience with the Nigerian national team is very good. Being part of African and Nigerian football is an interesting thing, and I cannot deny that,” remarked Peseiro. “I told everyone that I wanted to win the Africa Cup of Nations from the first moment I signed the contract with the Nigerian national team, and we study our opponents well in order to win, and this is what we seek to achieve.”

The Super Eagles are set to commence their preparations for the competition in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, starting next week Tuesday. As the tournament draws near, Peseiro and his team are focused on honing their skills and tactics, with their sights firmly set on clinching the coveted AFCON title once more.
