PAOK’s Agreement Allows Troost-Ekong Delay for Super Eagles Camp

PAOK Salonica, a Greek Super League team, has made a deal with the Nigeria Football Federation to postpone William Troost-Ekong’s arrival at the Super Eagles’ training camp in preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles are set to gather at the camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday to kick off their preparations, and Troost-Ekong is one of the 25 players expected to join the squad. However, PAOK has secured permission from the NFF for the defender to take part in a league match against OFI on Tuesday before reporting for international duty a day later.

In a similar vein, the NFF has also granted goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and Samuel Chukwueze permission to link up with the national team on Wednesday, following pleas from their respective clubs, Omonia Nicosia and AC Milan, to include them in league and Coppa Italia fixtures.

After a one-week stint in Abu Dhabi, the Super Eagles are slated to depart for Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday, January 10, as they gear up for the highly anticipated tournament.
