Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has taken a significant step towards ensuring transparency and fairness in the distribution of aid and intervention programs for the survivors and families affected by the Tudun Biri military airstrike. This move comes in response to the need for accountability in handling the donations and initiatives aimed at supporting the impacted community.
In an official statement, Governor Sani emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency throughout the disbursement process. He commended the contributions and intervention programs announced by the Federal Government, National Assembly, Nigeria Governors Forum, corporate bodies, and compassionate individuals, highlighting the collective effort to bring relief and restoration to the distressed community of Tudun Biri in Igabi LGA.
The newly inaugurated Implementation and Monitoring Mechanism Committee, led by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, comprises representatives from the affected families, community leaders, religious figures, and political representatives from Tudun Biri and Igabi Local Government, as well as the State Government. This diverse membership underscores the commitment to inclusivity and transparency in the committee’s operations.
The committee’s responsibilities include developing a comprehensive database of the injured and the next of kin of the victims, compiling an inventory of all donations, creating a framework for fair disbursement of funds to the intended recipients, collaborating with relevant government agencies for the efficient execution of intervention projects, and providing regular reports on their progress.
Governor Sani urged the committee members to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, and dedication to ensure that the aid reaches those in need and that the intervention projects are executed effectively for the benefit of the survivors and the wider community.
This initiative not only demonstrates the government’s commitment to accountability but also serves as a model for transparent governance in crisis response, setting a precedent for similar initiatives across the country.
