Former Nigerian Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, has called upon Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to focus on addressing the state’s security challenges and prioritizing extensive road construction and rehabilitation.
Speaking at the second Ofala festival of the Ojoto community in Anambra State, Ngige emphasized the significance of sustainable infrastructure development. Drawing from his experience as a former governor, he highlighted the enduring impact of his road construction initiatives, which have stood the test of time over two decades. Ngige underscored the importance of maintaining and expanding the road network to deliver the dividends of democracy to Anambra’s populace.
In addressing security concerns, Ngige raised alarm about the misappropriation of security funds by some state governors, emphasizing that these funds are intended to fortify stability and safeguard citizens. He commended Governor Soludo’s efforts in enhancing security measures but urged him to intensify these initiatives to restore economic vibrancy in the region. Ngige stressed the pivotal role of security in stimulating economic activities and cautioned against the destabilization caused by recent sociopolitical disruptions.
Furthermore, Ngige advised Soludo to adopt a proactive maintenance approach akin to preventive medicine, emphasizing that investing in upkeep and preservation of infrastructure would yield lasting benefits, minimizing the need for costly repairs in the long run. He emphasized the enduring value of well-maintained roads, citing his own constructions that continue to serve the community after two decades.
