Seychelles Welcomes 2024 With a Vibrant Mix of Festivities and Family Togetherness

Seychelles enthusiastically ushered in 2024 with a lively street party at Stad Popiler car park, Victoria’s central hub. The event featured electrifying live performances by prominent local musicians and artists, captivating a diverse crowd despite the rainy weather. The revelries, commencing at 6 p.m. on December 31, culminated in a spirited countdown to embrace the New Year, resonating until 2 a.m.

Basil Bouchereau, the event organizer, expressed delight in hosting a star-studded lineup of approximately 12 beloved local artists, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees. The esteemed Saturn Band led the countdown, infusing the gathering with their timeless hits, including “Ozordi Lannen” and “La sa lannen I ale”. Collaborating artists such as John Wirtz, Michelle Marengo, Elijah, Cusman, and Juliah further elevated the jubilant atmosphere.

In a departure from tradition, this year’s celebrations omitted fireworks as a gesture of sensitivity following the December 7th explosion. Bouchereau reiterated the organizers’ commitment to respecting those affected, particularly acknowledging that some individuals might remain averse to loud sounds given recent events.
