Angolan President Extends Congratulations to Re-elected DRC President

Angolan President, João Lourenço, has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to President Félix Tshisekedi on securing re-election in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) Presidential election. This victory was met with praise from the Angolan head of state and also the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Lourenço expressed admiration for the trust bestowed upon President Tshisekedi by the Congolese people, highlighting their positive affirmation of his government’s political initiatives and endeavors over the past four years. The Angolan President emphasized that the people’s approval signifies their ardent desire for peace, stability, and unity in the DRC, which are indispensable for the successful implementation of socio-economic development projects, ultimately contributing to the welfare of the Congolese citizens.

The election results, announced by the country’s electoral authorities, revealed Félix Tshisekedi’s victory, securing 73% of the votes, followed by Moïse Katumbi with 18% and Martin Fayulu with 5.33% of the votes, amongst other contenders.
