The Chairman of the Ondo State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fatai Adams, has been suspended by the State Working Committee (SWC) over allegations of engaging in anti-party activities.

The SWC, comprising nine members including the State Deputy Chairman, Secretary, and Publicity Secretary, accused Adams of purportedly allowing the infiltration of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) into the PDP and engaging in actions detrimental to the party’s image in the state.

In a signed suspension letter, the SWC expressed concerns that Adams’ conduct could tarnish the reputation of the party in Ondo State. The letter emphasized that the decision to suspend Adams is in line with the party’s constitution.

Adams has been granted a one-week period to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee to address the accusations leveled against him.

In accordance with the amended 2017 PDP Constitution, the SWC stated, “Pursuant to Section 58(1b. c, f. h. and i) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, the State Working Committee has approved the suspension of the State Chairman, Mr Fatai Adams, for anti-party activities and for engaging in activities likely to bring the party into disrepute.”

The suspension of the Ondo PDP Chairman highlights the intensifying political dynamics within the state and the broader national landscape, underscoring the ripple effects of party loyalty and internal dissent.
