Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has intervened to prevent midfielder Hannibal Mejbri from leaving Old Trafford on loan in January. This decision comes as the Red Devils await the return of Casemiro and Mason Mount.
The Tunisian international, Mejbri, had been seeking a loan move, but ten Hag has insisted on retaining him until he is assured of his midfield options. Mejbri’s withdrawal from the Africa Cup of Nations indicates his commitment to resolving his future at United.
Although Mejbri has made nine appearances for United this season, ten Hag is keen on providing him with more playing time to foster his development. However, the current absence of key players such as Casemiro and Mount has left United with limited options in midfield.
The return of Christian Eriksen from a recent lay-off and the absence of Sofyan Amrabat in the last two games for ten Hag’s side complicate the situation further. According to reports from Daily Mail, ten Hag is reluctant to approve Mejbri’s departure until the return of Casemiro and Mount.
Mejbri previously spent a season on loan at Birmingham, amassing 38 appearances for the club, and has expressed willingness to return for the second half of the season.
