Government Commits to Improving Education Accessibility for All, Says Nigerian Minister

In a significant development, the Nigerian Federal Government has underscored its commitment to enhancing access to education for all citizens. Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, made this pledge during the inauguration of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Surulere Campus in Ojuelegba, Lagos.

Sununu emphasized that the establishment of the new campus is aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda and is intended to expand educational opportunities across the country. He urged the university’s management and prospective students to fully utilize the newly provided facilities, particularly highlighting the convenience it offers for students aspiring to pursue their academic endeavors from their local communities.

“This center has expanded capacity, and it will foster the establishment of accessible education, especially for students seeking to advance their academic pursuits. As the Federal Ministry of Education, we are dedicated to aligning with President Tinubu’s eight-point agenda,” Sununu affirmed.

Furthermore, Sununu assured that the government is steadfast in ensuring that the university’s certificate holds substantial value and recognition.

Additionally, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, emphasized that the educational programs offered at the university are designed to equip both young and adult learners with the requisite knowledge and skills vital for thriving in today’s competitive environment. This move reaffirms the government’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and empowered society through accessible education.
