The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State is on a mission to exemplify governance that prioritizes the welfare of the underprivileged. Tony Okocha, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party in the state, expressed this commitment during a visit to a motherless baby home and an elderly care facility in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Okocha emphasized that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, renowned for its compassion, serves as an inspiration to the party. He stated, “We are in the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who the world knows as a very compassionate person. And of course, that has cascaded to us here in the state as leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.”
Highlighting the significance of the visit, Okocha noted, “We made deliberate attempts to also share with the indigent homes, the homes of the elderly and the motherless babies. We need to show that there could be a government that will have compassion for the less privileged.”
Furthermore, Okocha urged affluent individuals in the state to extend assistance to the residents of these facilities, emphasizing the importance of collective support for the vulnerable members of society.
The party’s outreach to indigent homes aims to instill hope within these communities, particularly during the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria.
The demonstration of empathy and solidarity by the Rivers APC echoes a broader narrative of social responsibility in governance, portraying a commitment to uplifting the marginalized and fostering a more inclusive society.
