Nigeria Football Federation Commits to Settle Super Eagles’ 26-Match Unpaid Bonuses

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has pledged to settle all outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the national football team, the Super Eagles.

The backlog of allowances and bonuses for 26 matches spans over three years, encompassing the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This prolonged delay has been a source of concern for the players and management.

In a recent development, it has been reported by SCORENigeria that the overdue payments have been factored into the budget approved by the Federal Government for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

A spokesperson from the Sports Ministry informed SCORENigeria, “All the bonuses and allowances pending for the team will now be cleared after this budget approval. This will be a big incentive for the team leading up to the AFCON.”

This long-awaited commitment from the NFF comes as the Super Eagles are currently in preparations for the AFCON, which is set to take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The resolution of this financial matter is expected to provide a significant morale boost to the players and coaching staff, as they focus on their campaign in the prestigious continental tournament.
