AIG Orders Dismissal of Police Inspectors for Armed Robbery and Corruption

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Ari Muhammed, has made a decisive move by ordering the dismissal of two Police Inspectors involved in armed robbery, corruption, and illegal duty. This bold action underscores the commitment to upholding the integrity and professionalism of the Nigerian Police Force.

The dismissed inspectors, Sunday Adetoye and Ogunleye Stephen, both attached to the Zonal Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, are currently facing trial for allegedly conspiring with civilians to commit a robbery in Obada-Oko, Ogun State.

The appalling events unfolded when the officers, in the company of three others, including two members of a Vigilante Group and a driver, used their authority to carry out an illegal search and seizure, making off with valuables from the victims’ residence. Their actions, involving the use of firearms and brazen misconduct, have rightly led to their dismissal and impending court charges.

It is reassuring to note that the AIG has directed that the dismissed officers be charged to court alongside the civilians involved. This demonstrates a commitment to justice and a strong message that such misconduct will not be tolerated within the police force.

Furthermore, the resolute stance of the police boss, warning against unprofessional conduct and corruption, sends a clear signal to all officers and men of the Command. Under the leadership of Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, the Nigeria Police Force unequivocally denounces any form of unprofessional behavior and corrupt practices.

A call to action has been made to the public, urging them to report any unprofessional conduct of officers and men, with the assurance of confidentiality and swift attention to such matters. This harmonious engagement between law enforcement and the public is crucial in upholding the standards of the force and ensuring accountability.

This significant development marks a milestone in the efforts to uphold integrity, accountability, and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force. The swift and decisive action taken by AIG Ari Muhammed sets an example of zero tolerance for misconduct, sending a powerful message that the police force is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and public service.
