President Tinubu’s Appoints New Executive Directors at NPA & NIMASA

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s maritime sector, President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the appointment of new Executive Directors at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

The newly appointed Executive Directors at NPA are Vivian C. Richard Edet, taking the helm as the Executive Director of Finance and Administration; Olalekan Badmus, appointed as the Executive Director of Marine and Operations; and Ibrahim Abba Umar, positioned as the Executive Director of Engineering and Technical Services.

Meanwhile, at NIMASA, Mr Jibril Abba steps into the role of Executive Director of Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services; Mr Chudi Offodile assumes the position of Executive Director of Finance and Administration; and Fatai Taye Adeyemi takes on the mantle of Executive Director of Operations.

According to a statement from Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s special adviser on Media and Publicity, these appointments are made with the utmost confidence in the appointees’ exceptional credentials. It is believed that they will effectively carry out their collective mandate to enhance the Marine and Blue Economy sector’s contribution to Nigeria’s GDP.

This move also aligns with the government’s commitment to transform the Nigerian economy into a labor-intensive and inclusive one, offering new opportunities for all Nigerians. These developments are in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

President Tinubu’s nod for these strategic appointments underscores a clear commitment to driving growth and efficiency within the country’s vital maritime industry. As Nigeria looks to assert itself as a key player in the global blue economy, these appointments signal a proactive stance towards achieving that goal.
