The Edo State Government is making a significant move to rally support for Bendel Insurance by offering free transportation for fans to attend their match against Rangers. In a statement released by the state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, the government aims to ensure the comfort and convenience of supporters as they head to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for the crucial clash.

Nehikhare highlighted that the gesture is an effort to mobilize the sports-loving people of Edo State to come out in large numbers and show their unwavering support for the team. “Our sports-loving governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has approved the provision of free bus rides through the Edo City Transport Services (ECTS) to mobilize Edo people in their numbers to cheer the State’s football team, Insurance, to victory during their NPFL clash against Rangers on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City,” Nehikhare stated.

The free transportation service will operate from various pickup points, ensuring easy access for fans and supporters of Bendel Insurance as well as other football enthusiasts to travel to and from the match venue. The designated routes for the free bus service encompass key areas such as Ugbowo axis, Airport Road, Sokponba Road, Ikpoba-Hill, Eyean-Aduwawa axis, King Square axis, Ogida Siluko Road, New Benin, Sapele Road, and Ekenwan Road.

Nehikhare expressed optimism, “While we are sure of victory after 90 minutes of exciting football actions, we are encouraging Edo people to come out en masse to cheer our darling team, Bendel Insurance, to victory. We want the stadium to be filled so that we can give them the moral and intimidating support they require.”
