Zamfara-West Farmers Receive Vital Support as Governor Lawal Launches Development Projects

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has initiated a transformative program aimed at empowering farmers and boosting education in the state. The launch, which took place in Gummi LGA, marked the distribution of crucial agricultural assets to farmers in the Zamfara-west senatorial district as part of the COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme under the FADAMA III project.

During the ceremony, Governor Lawal not only flagged off the distribution of agricultural assets but also laid the foundation for the construction of a modern Tsangaya School in Gummi LGA. This move aligns with the state government’s approval for the construction of similar schools across all three senatorial zones, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing the quality of education statewide.

In his address, Governor Lawal articulated the government’s dedication to rural infrastructure development, emphasizing the rehabilitation and construction of access roads and wet markets. Furthermore, the governor outlined plans to bolster farmers’ productivity by providing essential inputs such as fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, high-quality seeds, and seed dressing chemicals. A substantial allocation of 33,000 bags of fertilizer, power tillers, and seeds for rice and maize production will benefit thousands of farmers, accompanied by initiatives to empower farming groups and individuals with tools and livestock.

Governor Lawal also used the opportunity to assure the community of the high-quality standards that the Tsangaya Islamic School will meet, underscoring the government’s commitment to advancing education in the region.

The unveiling of these projects signifies a significant stride towards agricultural development and educational advancement in Zamfara State, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach to uplifting the livelihoods of its citizens.
