The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecasted sunny skies and haziness from Monday to Wednesday across the country, urging the public to take necessary precautions.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet anticipates a hazy atmosphere over the northern region and the north central states with patches of cloud on Monday. Additionally, localized thunderstorms are expected over parts of the southern and coastal areas, including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening hours.
Throughout the forecast period, NiMet expects a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the north and the north central states of the country. On Wednesday, NiMet predicts sunny skies with cloud patches in a hazy atmosphere over the northern region and the north central states, while also envisaging localized thunderstorms over parts of Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening hours.
NiMet has issued a cautionary statement, advising the public to take necessary precautions due to dust particles in suspension and urging individuals with respiratory issues to be cautious. Airline operators are also encouraged to obtain updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning, while citizens are advised to take necessary safety precautions due to the likelihood of strong winds accompanying the thunderstorms.
The agency further calls on disaster risk managers, agencies, and individuals to be proactive in averting potential loss of lives and property.
