Supreme Court Upholds Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Victory
In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Hyacinth Alia as the leader of Benue State. Alia, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured victory over his rival Titus Uba of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The decision marks the culmination of a legal battle that saw the governorship election petition tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja previously validating Alia’s election.
Following the lower courts’ decisions, Uba, dissatisfied with the outcomes, sought recourse at the highest judicial authority in the country, the Supreme Court.
This development solidifies Governor Alia’s position at the helm of Benue State and underscores the judiciary’s pivotal role in adjudicating electoral disputes.
