Senator Dr. Tony Nwoye, who represents Anambra North Senatorial District, recently made a significant impact by providing essential support to over 14,000 individuals in his constituency. The palliatives distributed, valued at millions of naira, encompassed a wide range of items such as engine boats, sewing machines, engineering kits, grinding machines, bags of fertilizers, rice, generating sets, and cash grants ranging from N10,000 to N50,000.
During the announcement of the distribution plan, Senator Nwoye emphasized that the initiative was not driven by political motives but was his way of giving back to society. He expressed his commitment to benefit not just the locals but also individuals from outside the district. His primary objective is to empower the community, combat unemployment, and mitigate crime, extending the impact beyond his senatorial district. “The essence of this is not for politics,” he stated. “I am always disturbed each time I see people, especially youths, roam the streets because they have no jobs. This is a way of empowering them to take them off the streets.”
Senator Nwoye also highlighted his intention to continue such gestures on a quarterly basis to further uplift the society. Moreover, he pledged to provide speed boats for the riverine people in his constituency following a recent boat accident in Anambra West LGA.
During the event, Senator Nwoye expressed his gratitude to influential figures such as Prince Arthur Eze and Peter Obi for their tremendous impact on his life. He also urged the beneficiaries, particularly the youth, to maximize the utilization of the tools provided.
The empowerment program garnered accolades from various dignitaries including the Lawmaker representing Onitsha North in the State House of Assembly, Patrick Okafor, who commended Senator Nwoye for his generous efforts.
Prior to the empowerment program, the community gathered for Thanksgiving Services at the All Saints Cathedral and the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Onitsha. The widespread support and attendance from influential figures, traditional rulers, and other lawmakers reinforced the significance of the event.
