The Nigeria National League (NNL) has taken a firm stand against unruly behavior by banning Malumfashi FC from its home ground, the Abubakar Labbo Stadium. This decision comes in response to the egregious conduct of Malumfashi FC’s supporters during the recent match against Sokoto United.

The chaos erupted as Malumfashi fans unleashed terror on match officials and the visiting team’s coach in Katsina. In the wake of these disgraceful events, the NNL Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, swiftly announced sanctions following an emergency meeting of the Disciplinary Committee in Abuja.

As a result of their actions, Malumfashi FC has been fined a substantial sum of One Million Naira. Furthermore, the Abubakar Labbo Stadium is deemed unsafe to host NNL matches and is consequently banned from holding any future games. The club also faces a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira for their role in the match’s premature cessation.

Compensation demands have been laid out for the damages caused by the violent outburst. These include the reimbursement of funds forcibly taken from referees, payment for three missing mobile telephones, the cost of a damaged bag and personal belongings, as well as the medical treatment expenses for the injured Sokoto United official.

In addition to these financial penalties, Malumfashi FC is banished to Kaduna for the remainder of their league matches. The club’s Chairman, Alh. Seraju Baba, has been slapped with a three-month ban from participating in all football activities. Notably, Sokoto United is entrusted with overseeing the logistics for the replay of the remaining 45 minutes.

This swift and comprehensive response by the NNL underscores a zero-tolerance approach to violence and hooliganism in football. The swift and decisive actions taken serve as a stark warning to all clubs and fans that such behavior will not be tolerated within the league.
