Dr Umar Abubakar has officially taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), succeeding Yusuf Usman, who departed from the position last year.
The transition was marked by a brief handover ceremony held at the company’s headquarters in Kaduna, overseen by Dafe Okpaneye of the Nigerian Electricity Regulations Commission (NERC). In a statement released by Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the Head of Corporate Communications, it was revealed that Okpaneye commended the former CEO for his efforts over the past 18 months, urging Abubakar to continue in the same vein.
Addressing the Executive Management Committee members and employees, Abubakar urged the staff to strive for excellence, expressing confidence in their ability to transform the company’s reputation from negative to positive.
In his parting words, Yusuf extended gratitude to the staff for their support during his tenure and encouraged them to extend the same cooperation to the new CEO.
Prior to his appointment, Abubakar served as the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the Yola Electricity Distribution Company.
This change in leadership marks a significant development for Kaduna Electric and is poised to steer the company towards a new era under Dr Umar Abubakar’s guidance.
