APC Unveils Edo Governorship Election Plans: Nomination Form Price and Primary Date Announced

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed its timeline for the Edo State gubernatorial election on September 21, 2024. In a statement by Sulaimon Argungu, the APC National Organising Secretary, the party outlined the crucial dates for the upcoming election.

According to the schedule, the sale of nominations, expression of interest, and delegates forms for candidates will kick off on January 10 and conclude on January 29, 2024. The primary election is slated for February 17.

Notably, the APC set the price for the expression of interest and nomination forms at N10 million and N40 million respectively. However, the party announced that persons living with disabilities and female aspirants are only required to pay for the expression of interest, while the nomination form will be free for them.

Furthermore, the party specified that youths aged 25 to 40 can purchase expression of interest forms at a 50% discount, with a similar reduction on nomination forms.

It’s important to mention that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already scheduled November 16, 2024, for the governorship polls in Ondo and Edo States.

These developments signal the commencement of the electoral process in Edo State, piquing interest and setting the stage for a vibrant and competitive gubernatorial race. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the APC’s announcement sets the tone for what promises to be a compelling and closely-watched election.
