Ebonyi South Senatorial Bye-Election: A Call for Peace and Adherence to Electoral Rules

Chima Ekuma Nkama, the Chairman of Edda local government area in Ebonyi State, is urging political candidates in the upcoming Ebonyi south senatorial zone bye-election to reject violence and embrace a peaceful electoral process. Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, Nkama emphasized that the election should not be turned into a high-stakes battle.

He implored candidates from all political parties to abide by the rules and regulations governing the bye-election, which will encompass five local government areas: Ohaozara, Onicha, Ivo, Afikpo North, and Edda LGA.

Nkama highlighted the need for a consensus among political parties, emphasizing that the people of Ebonyi south senatorial zone are aligned with the APC, and unity should prevail in the election process. He stressed that candidate selection should reflect the will of the people to avoid internal strife.

Furthermore, Nkama expressed his reluctance to support individuals who previously failed in the general election and are now vying for participation in the Ebonyi south senatorial bye-election. He emphasized that the focus should be on the advancement and prosperity of the people of Edda LGA.

Nkama’s stance underscores the importance of upholding democratic values and fostering a peaceful electoral environment, urging all candidates to prioritize the collective interests of the community.

Moving forward, the electorate, political stakeholders, and the international community will look to the leaders and contestants in the Ebonyi south senatorial bye-election to ensure a fair, transparent, and violence-free process that upholds the democratic principles of Nigeria.
