Family Demands Transparency in Mohbad’s Death Investigation

The death of Nigerian singer Mohbad continues to raise questions as his father, Joseph Aloba, voices dissatisfaction with the police investigation. Mohbad, a former artist under Naira Marley’s Marlian Records Label, passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances.

The aftermath of Mohbad’s demise saw the emergence of documents and videos depicting alleged bullying by Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, leading to widespread public outcry.

In response to mounting pressure, Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, ordered a forensic investigation to establish the cause of Mohbad’s untimely passing. The Lagos State Police Command subsequently apprehended several suspects, including Sam Larry, Naira Marley, Primeboy, and Feyisoya Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who attended to Mohbad prior to his death.

After being detained for weeks, Sam Larry and Naira Marley were arraigned on October 6 and granted bail.

In a widely circulated interview with Trust TV, Joseph Aloba expressed his discontent with the police investigation. He urged the authorities to involve individuals who had lived with Mohbad in the inquiry process.

A visibly distraught Aloba stated, “I’m not satisfied with the police investigation. A lot of things have been said outside which are not right.” He emphasized the importance of examining the phones of Mohbad’s associates, affirming the family’s pursuit of justice while cautioning against delays potentially leading to denial.

As the investigation unfolds, the family’s demand for transparency underscores the need for thoroughness and objectivity in scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic demise.
