Adeyanju Urges Police to Prioritize Public Safety in VeryDarkMan’s Arrest

The arrest of activist VeryDarkMan has sparked condemnation from Abuja-based rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. Adeyanju has called upon the Nigeria Police Force to prioritize public safety and refrain from being manipulated as a tool for personal vendetta.

In a strongly worded statement, Adeyanju expressed distress over the alleged misuse of police power, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies should focus on combating crime and ensuring public safety, rather than involving themselves in civil matters that do not pose an immediate threat to public welfare. He stressed the importance of fair treatment and protection under the law for every citizen, irrespective of their background.

The arrest of VeryDarkMan has raised concerns about the impartiality and fairness of the police, particularly in their interactions with individuals from marginalized communities. Adeyanju highlighted that such actions can deepen existing social divisions and diminish public trust in the justice system. He urged the police to reevaluate their priorities and concentrate on addressing genuine concerns, responding to emergencies, and building positive relationships with the community through community-oriented policing strategies.

Furthermore, Adeyanju called for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding VeryDarkMan’s arrest, emphasizing the importance of following due process and identifying any potential misconduct or bias.

Adeyanju’s passionate plea serves as a reminder of the critical role of law enforcement in upholding justice and maintaining public trust. It resonates with the global call for fairness, transparency, and accountability in police conduct, reflecting the universal significance of ensuring the protection and rights of individuals, regardless of their social standing.
