Solomon Abel Eke, the former Local Government Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State, recently voiced his criticism of Nyesom Wike, the former Governor. Eke expressed his views at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 12 event in Port Harcourt, where the Ekinigbo clan in Obio/Akpor LGA showed support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid political turmoil in the state.
During the event, Eke highlighted the lack of freedom of expression during Wike’s tenure, stating that even government appointees and Council Chairmen faced constraints in speaking freely. He contrasted this with the current administration, emphasizing the newfound freedom of expression under Governor Fubara’s leadership.
Eke’s comments were prompted by the recent derogatory remarks made by Samuel Nwanosike, the Council Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, about Governor Fubara. Eke condemned such disrespectful behavior, underscoring the shift in dynamics under the current administration, where Council Chairmen now operate with greater autonomy.
In support of Governor Fubara amidst the state’s political crisis, Eke assured the people of Ward 12 that their backing of Fubara would not be in vain. Additionally, he pledged to extend the benefits of Fubara’s projects to the community.
Chijioke Ihunwo, the state chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, encouraged Rivers people to pray for peace and unity, affirming their unwavering support for Governor Fubara. Emphasizing Fubara’s representation of the youth, peace, and unity, Ihunwo conveyed their commitment to upholding his leadership.
Eze Isiguzo, the PDP Ward 12 leader, echoed the sentiment of standing firm in their support of truth, emphasizing their resilience against intimidation.
The event served as a platform for political discourse and a demonstration of allegiance to Governor Fubara, signifying the evolving political landscape in Rivers State.
