In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dipo Olayoku, the National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), hailed the Supreme Court judgment affirming the election of Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State as a beacon of hope for the state’s people.
Olayoku emphasized that the ruling not only validates the victory of Gov. Abba Yusuf but also upholds the integrity of the electoral process, reinforcing the importance of winning elections through legitimate means.
“The party urges politicians to seek victory through the ballot box, not through clandestine methods. The Supreme Court’s decision punctuates this message, and we call on all arms of the judiciary to uphold the truth,” Olayoku stated.
Speaking in his capacity as the Deputy National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Olayoku expressed no surprise at the judgment, asserting that NNPP’s triumph in the March 18, 2023, governorship election was widely known.
Highlighting the party’s electoral successes, Olayoku pointed out NNPP’s victories in the presidential election, two out of three senatorial seats, and 18 out of 24 House of Assembly seats. He stressed that these results underscored the party’s strong position in the state.
“In the governorship elections, we outpaced the APC by approximately 200,000 votes. Out of 40 House of Assembly seats, we secured 26. These resounding victories leave no room for doubt. We are grateful that the Supreme Court has reignited hope among the people,” Olayoku affirmed.
