In an exclusive development, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has made a groundbreaking announcement regarding the timeline for the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway. During an inspection of the Abuja-Kaduna section, Umahi revealed that all segments of the highway will be fully completed within a span of 24 months.

This proclamation comes after comprehensive negotiations between the government and the renowned contractor of the road, Julius Berger Construction Company. Joining Umahi on this pivotal inspection was the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun, who further emphasized the significance of this strategic infrastructure project.

The initial contract for the construction of this vital highway was awarded in 2018 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, with an initial completion timeline of 36 months. Regrettably, the government was unable to meet this target, citing financial constraints as a significant factor contributing to the delay.

Minister Umahi, however, attributed the delays to the lack of sufficient funds and reiterated the government’s resolute commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the highway. Notably, he underscored that Julius Berger Construction Company has pledged to achieve a remarkable feat of completing 15 kilometers of the highway on a daily basis, in line with the newly agreed-upon timeline.

This resolute declaration by Minister Umahi signifies a pivotal turning point in the advancement of crucial infrastructure development in Nigeria. It underscores the government’s unwavering determination to surmount challenges and deliver essential projects that will significantly enhance connectivity and foster socio-economic development across the region.

As the construction endeavors progress, this ambitious initiative is poised to not only bolster the transportation infrastructure but also catalyze widespread socio-economic growth and prosperity. The successful completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway within the specified timeframe holds immense promise for facilitating seamless interconnectivity and invigorating trade and commerce within and beyond the region.

The definitive timeline projected by Minister Umahi stands as a testament to the government’s formidable resolve to prioritize and expedite critical infrastructure projects, ultimately steering Nigeria towards an era of enhanced connectivity, economic vitality, and sustained progress.
