Musa Calls for Fan Support as Super Eagles Gear Up for AFCON 2023 Showdown Against Equatorial Guinea

Super Eagles’ skipper Ahmed Musa has expressed unwavering determination ahead of the AFCON 2023 tournament in Cote d’Ivoire following their untimely exit from AFCON 2021. Musa affirmed that the team has moved past their previous setbacks and is now poised to make a resounding impact on the forthcoming tournament.
In their quest for redemption, the Super Eagles commenced their campaign in Cameroon with an impressive winning streak in all three group stage matches. However, their journey was cut short after a defeat by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the Round of 16. The team also faced criticism for their lackluster performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and suffered a setback in a pre-AFCON friendly against the Syli Stars of Guinea, casting doubt on their prospects in Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
Despite the challenges, Musa remains upbeat about the team’s potential for success. During a press conference in Abidjan, he emphasized the team’s commitment to delivering results on the field, urging unwavering support from Nigerian fans. “Going out early at the last AFCON was really disappointing and we don’t want a repeat of that,” Musa stated. “We don’t have to talk too much in the media, we will do the talking on the pitch. Nigerians must believe in us, we won’t let them down.”
As the countdown to their opening match against Equatorial Guinea at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, commences, Musa’s plea for support resonates with fervent hope for a triumphant Super Eagles’ resurgence.
