Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, emphasized the importance of achieving positive outcomes in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as he addressed the team’s financial matters.
During a recent press conference before the team’s AFCON fixture against Equatorial Guinea, Peseiro stressed the need for the team to focus on delivering good results amidst inquiries about the Nigeria Football Federation’s payment of outstanding salaries and bonuses to the players.
Peseiro, a Portuguese national, made it clear that monetary issues should take a back seat to the team’s performance, stating, “Money and bonuses should be the last discussion, we need good results first. We all need money, but money is the last discussion.” He further declined to discuss his personal salary and bonuses with the media.
The coach’s remarks indicate a prioritization of on-field success over financial considerations, highlighting his determination to steer the team towards victory in the tournament. The Super Eagles suffered a setback in their preparations, having recently lost a friendly match against Guinea prior to the upcoming crucial AFCON encounter against Equatorial Guinea.
