Nigeria’s Head Coach Peseiro Opts for Nwabili Over Uzoho for AFCON 2023 Opener Against Equatorial Guinea

The Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, has made the decision to exclude Francis Uzoho from the starting lineup for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations opener against Equatorial Guinea this Sunday.

According to reports received by Media Talk Africa, Stanley Nwabili is set to start the game, despite having only one cap for Nigeria. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is expected to take his position between the sticks against the Nzalang Nacional at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.

Following Ivory Coast’s 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, the three-time African champions head into the match in second place. The kick-off for the much-anticipated encounter is scheduled for 3pm WAT.
