The Deputy National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nze Chidi, has commended the recent Supreme Court rulings on election petitions related to the 2023 governorship elections in eight states, stating that it has significantly eased tensions in the country.
In a recent interview in Abuja, Chidi expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s verdicts, including those upholding the election results in Lagos, Ebonyi, Cross River, Kano, Zamfara, Bauchi, Plateau, and Abia States.
Chidi praised the judiciary for providing a sense of confidence to Nigerians that their grievances can be addressed impartially and that justice will be served to all parties involved. He emphasized the importance of political actors engaging with the electorate and winning elections through fair and transparent means.
Regarding the Kano election verdict, Chidi highlighted that the rulings at various court levels demonstrated the judiciary’s ability to arrive at different interpretations of the facts, emphasizing the overall commendable role of the judiciary in settling election disputes.
Shifting his focus, Chidi lauded the actions taken by President Bola Tinubu in response to the suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, for alleged money laundering. He noted that these recent events have revitalized optimism among Nigerians, signaling a government that is attuned to the concerns of the populace.
Chidi concluded by expressing hope that the APC’s continued efforts could make the party indomitable in the upcoming years, leading to the next election.
