Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho is making waves in training as he pushes for a starting position in the Super Eagles’ pivotal 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group A showdown against hosts Cote d’Ivoire this Thursday.
Iheanacho, who recently recovered from a muscular injury, joined the team at their base in Abidjan’s Pullman Hotel on Saturday. Despite being sidelined in the Super Eagles’ 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea, the 27-year-old striker’s impressive performance in training has not gone unnoticed.
Reportedly in top form and fully healed from his injury, the Leicester City player is poised to potentially replace the underperforming Alex Iwobi in the starting lineup against the Elephants.
