The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently undertook a thorough inspection of the ongoing developments at the Victor Attah International Airport in Akwa Ibom State. This visit comes as a gesture of the minister’s recognition and appreciation for the strides made in the project’s execution.

In a statement by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser, Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, it was revealed that Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom personally guided the minister during the tour. Keyamo expressed his admiration for the progress made and commended the state government’s remarkable achievements in aviation infrastructure.

The focal point of Keyamo’s commendation was the near completion of the New Terminal building, which he hailed as the best terminal facility constructed by any sub-national entity in Nigeria. It was noted that the new terminal is designed to handle both domestic and international flight operations simultaneously, showcasing the state’s commitment to advancing its aviation capabilities.

A noteworthy highlight of the minister’s visit was the airport’s Maintenance, Repairs, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, which Keyamo described as the first of its kind in Nigeria with the capacity to serve the West, East, and North African regions.

The Aviation Minister also acknowledged Governor Umo’s dedication to the completion of these pioneering projects, emphasizing the strategic significance of the airport’s Maintenance, Repairs, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, upcoming terminal building, and the newly constructed taxiway in bolstering the airport’s prominence.

The prospect of collaborating with the Federal Government to fully harness the airport’s potential is actively being pursued by Governor Umo, aligning with the broader vision for advancing the aviation sector. Through this commitment, the Akwa Ibom Government aims to position the Victor Attah International Airport as a pivotal hub for air travel across the African continent, signifying a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure.

Keyamo’s visit not only affirms the progress of the Victor Attah International Airport but also underscores the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government and sub-national entities in propelling Nigeria’s aviation sector to new heights.
