The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State has made a solid commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible local government election later this year. This assurance was conveyed by the party’s Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, during a press briefing in Kano on Tuesday.
“With our unwavering commitment to democratic principles that prioritize the welfare of the people, we are dedicated to ensuring a seamless, free, and fair local government election,” remarked Mr. Dungurawa.
Highlighting the NNPP’s democratic values, he emphasized that the party allowed all the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen to complete their terms. “Upon assuming office, we opted to retain the APC Local Government Chairmen from the previous administration, affording them due recognition until the end of their tenure,” he affirmed.
Mr. Dungurawa also underscored that the NNPP government extended a similar courtesy to public service officers inherited from the APC administration, including the former Head of the Civil Service.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support and prayers, particularly during and after the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Kabir Yusuf as the duly elected executive governor of the state, Mr. Dungurawa reaffirmed the NNPP’s commitment to delivering tangible benefits of democracy to enhance the well-being of the people. These benefits encompass the provision of quality education, healthcare, water supply, roads, and the security of lives and property.
The NNPP’s pledge sets the stage for a potentially transformative local government election in Kano State, reinforcing democratic principles and fostering hope for a more inclusive and transparent governance process in the region.
